Thanks Dave,

I'll try some serious hand washing on some of the particularly grimy ring-around the collar. I guess that's what really brings me down. I don't mind a bit of grease here and there (you earn it, right), but that collar stain after only a few dusty rides, well... I still can't help but think that the way the wool or tape is finished isn't quite right.

I really want to get one of the lightweight jerseys in white, but can't make the leap after the poor washing experience with the light blue one.

I love the pics on your blog by the way. Very nice!

I've got a white Rapha jersey, too, and a few others with white trim. Not just the neck, but the outside tops of the pockets become soiled, too, after I reach for something a few times.

However, I find hand washing, sometimes vigorously, with almost any soap, works for me. I make sure to use lots of soap, which I work into the affected areas with my fingers, and even with (more gently) a finger nail.

Very timely to read this today, nerdseyeview sent me your way when I tweeted about how I should be working, not watching Floyd Landis throw his former teammates under a bus.

Beautiful writing, and I hate broken spokes as much as the next person. Maybe more.

Thanks! It was definitely very different from the stuff I saw in Tel Aviv. It was fantastic to stay in the Old City for a few days and I already look forward to when I can return again.

I also am fairly amazed at how nicely the Rapha jersey's fit. They feel great, even on a big fatso like me...I can imagine for a true bike boy they'd be simply divine. I am working much, much harder this year to get to "riding weight"..and boy howdy when I do, I am prying money from my husband for another couple new jerseys. I am definitely curious to try one of the light-weight ones.

I am planning on writing up a review of my experience with Rapha gear when I get back from Israel and get maybe one more month of riding with what I have, so keep your eye out for that!

Cheers!
