A Day Out: Ocean Shores
Seattle is surrounded by water, much of it the cold salty Puget Sound, but it's a long way from pounding ocean surf. The closest beach is at Ocean Shores, a slender peninsula jutting into Gray's Harbor.

Adventure can be had close to home if you keep your hearts open and curiously alert. We bicycle to Seabeck to spend the night and take a look at the oyster beach at Scenic Beach State Park.
